- Starting January 1, 2026, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must review every five years how the automatic maximum coverage amount compares to a benchmark.
- The benchmark is $500,000 multiplied by the average percentage change in the Consumer Price Index over the five prior fiscal years.
- The Secretary must send the review results to the House and Senate Committees on Veterans' Affairs, where they may guide future coverage increases.
- Adds new section 1980B to title 38 of the United States Code and a matching entry in the chapter's table of sections.
